FM4 Paso Libre is born
FM4 Paso Libre is born from the initiative of a group of students who after their volunteering experience in migrant shelters in other regions of the country decided to undertake a comprehensive intervention project in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Their initial efforts focused on humanitarian assistance along train routes.
Legal establishment
FM4 Paso Libre is legally constituted as “Dignidad y Justicia A.C.” [T. N.: Civil Association].
Migrant Assistance Center
The first Migrant Assistance Center by FM4 Paso Libre is opened. A space where personal hygiene, clothing, food, and telephone calls are provided for four hours a day.
First research report
Publication of the “Migration in transit through the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area: Actors, Challenges, and Perspectives from the Experience of FM4 Paso Libre” report/investigation. It diagnoses the migrant reality and strengthens the dialogue with authorities, academia, and society.
High-Level Dialogue on Migration and Development
First participation in international advocacy spaces. Attendance at the preparatory meeting and the High-Level Dialogue on Migration and Development at the United Nations in New York.
REDODEM Coordination
FM4 Paso Libre assumes the General Coordination of the Documentation Network of Migrant Defender Organizations (REDODEM), a collaborative effort of 23 migrant homes across the country.
Center for Migrants and Refugees
Opening of the new FM4 Migrant and Refugee Care Center. Paso Libre. Extended service hours and strengthening of humanitarian services, including medical, psychological and legal accompaniment.
Alliance with UNHCR
FM4 Paso Libre becomes a member of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Participation in CCINM and CCIJAMI
Integration in two strategic spaces to impact policies, through the Citizen Council of the National Institute of Migration, and the Consultative Council of the Jalisco Institute for Migrants.
Impact on international spaces
Participation in the World Consultation of Organizations of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland. Collaboration in consultations and official process for the adoption of the Global Compact on a Regular, Orderly and Safe migration.
Dignified Inclusion
Implementation of the “Dignified Inclusion” project to raise awareness and address the migratory flows of children and adolescents in Mexico.
